MadKap The Writer

MadKap The Writer is a recording artist from Syracuse, N.Y.
He started writing and creating poetry when he was only 8 years old. Then chili, he also took up the violin and viola, and started his journey with music!
One year later, he discovered hip-hop music, and immediately connected with the energy of the genre.
Back into 2012, he released is debut mixtape, “A Tale Of My Thoughts,” which was received really well in the community and showcased the artist’s unique approach to songwriting.

His sound blurs the lines between Urban and hip-hop, and if you are a fan of artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Rapsody and Joe Budden, you will certainly enjoy his style.

VALDANIEL is a singer/songwriter, subway performer and writer. Sighting influences from Irish folk to soul to Latin and African rhythms, Valdaniel loops songs, spoken-word and multiple instruments together to weave a rich cord both tethered in and embellishing the folk songwriter tradition.

"Excellent performer...palpable lyrics...
- Susan Hasho, Theater Pizzazz

Originally from the sylvan hills and dales of Chenango County, NY, he started singing at a young age. Growing up, his mother led the church choir and staged many holiday concerts, which imbued him with a love for performing that never went away. As a solo performer, he has taken his multi-faceted live show and unique sound- which he calls AMERICANA FOLKHOP- into Colombia and Brazil as well as many of New York City's esteemed venues including The Bitter End, Caffe Vivaldi and Rockwood Music Hall.

"Kind of like taking Hunter S. Thompson, Leon Redbone and Steven Wright and putting them in a blender."
Dillon McCartney, New York International Opera Projects

As a theatrical performer, Valdaniel served as composer and actor in the rollicking "New York Stories" at the Triad Theater on Manhattan's Upper West Side  and composer for a new iteration of Ianesco's absurdist play "Rhinoceros". His original show  "The PennyPan Cabaret" opened to great acclaim at the venerable Nuyorican Poets Cafe in the east village in 2017 and his short play "Escape From Paradise", a favorite of the 2018 New York New Works Theatre Festival, premiered at Theatre Row's off-Broadway venue on 42nd St.

"Valdaniel combines guitar loops with catchy melodies, beat boxing and trumpet. He never fails to captivate a room."
Niall Connollysinger/songwriter, folk god

His first EP entitled "Love What's Killing You" was released in 2015. Valdaniel is currently based in upstate New York where he focuses on writing and recording. He and his wife Katie curate a monthly music and literature show in conjunction with Cazenovia College and the Catherine Cummings Theater.
